DJH Designs Inc. is a leading global company that designs and manufactures high-precision fixtures and equipment. The company’s innovative and differentiated products have offered a complete line of products for online and offline Film Thickness testing.
Amongst others, DJH Designs produces a full range of products for roll grinding equipment, MEK Rub Testing, Inter-coat adhesion testing, Paint Volume Solids Testing, and Strip Tear Joining machines.
DJH Designs Inc. has been the industry leader in a number of categories, becoming the international standard for our dry film thickness systems and MEK Rub Test Machines.
1989
DJH Designs was founded in September 1989 by Douglas Henderson.
1991
DJH Designs was introduced to the coil coating industry, and the first prototype was built and implemented.
1992
The Film Thickness System was showcased in October at the National Coil Coaters Association (NCCA) trade show. Since then, DJH Designs has set the standard for dry film measurement.
1992
The MEK Rub Test Machine is a semi-automated machine developed to combat the problem of inconsistent rub test results between operators. The first machine was shipped out on February 1992.
1994
DJH Designs was approached by a representative of the ASTM to provide details and information about the Film Thickness System and its performance.
1996
The Film Thickness System was recognized as the ASTM Standard for Dry film measurement with the Designation ASTM D5796.
1997
The Intercoat Adhesion Tester was developed due to the need to standardize the coin/pencil test for intercoat adhesion.
2002
The STRIP-LOK Sheet Metal Joiner was introduced as a portable strip-joining machine driven only by compressed air.
2008
The first roll grinder was launched as a complete turnkey solution to grinding and finishing the coater and squeegee rollers.
2011
The Paint Volume Solids Instrument was introduced highlighting the ability to measure the paint volume solid content so that the wet paint film thickness can be translated into the equivalent dry film thickness.
2011
DFM online paint thickness instrument was launched.
2012
The MEK Rub Test Machine achieved the ASTM designation D7835.
2013
The Weld Penetration System was first sold as a dedicated inspection system for weld seam measurements.
2020
Phaeton was launched as the fastest, most accurate lab film thickness instrument anywhere. It is used to measure the topcoat and reverse side coat on any given sample.
